What is Group Therapy?

Group Therapy is comprised of 5-10 individuals who meet because they share common struggles.  While the function of each group can vary, many groups are designed to create a safe and welcoming environment in which members develop trust with one another.  Groups educate, support, and encourage growth and development of the self.   Group therapy differs from individual therapy in that there is an understanding that group members learn from the life stories and life experiences of other group members.   Sessions are often 90 minutes to 120 minutes and meet weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the group.  Please see our Groups & Events for more specific information.
